Washable Homemade Finger Paint Recipe

Yes, we brought fans outdoors, can you blame us?  It's over 100 degrees everyday!

I couldn't wait for Elle to get her fingers into this paint!  She loves to color, so I knew that she would do great with paint!  I found a recipe from Food.com for a washable finger paint.  It worked great. Although it's washable, I would still recommend wearing clothing that is not your Sunday best! Here's the recipe.

Ingredients:
2 tablespoons sugar
1/3 cup cornstarch
2 cups cold water
1/4 cup clear liquid dish soap
food coloring or food coloring paste

Directions:
Mix together sugar and cornstarch in a small pan, then slowly add cold water.

Cook over low heat, stirring until the mixture becomes a smooth; almost clear gel about 5 minutes.

When it's cool, stir in clear dishwashing liquid.
Scoop equal amounts of the mixture into containers and stir in food coloring or, for even more vibrant colors, use food-coloring paste.

  5. Hi! I found this on Pinterest and made some today. Did you save the unused paint? If so, how did you store it? In the refrigerator? Or does extra need to be thrown out?
