DIY Fabric Pacifier Clips Tutorial

I've taught myself how to make a different kind of pacifier clip.  I wanted something a little more durable.  The velcro didn't always seem to stay put through a lot of use.  So I decided to look around the internet for some pictures, and came up with this tutorial on my own.  Here's how it turned out.  If you'd rather not make one and would just like to purchase one as a gift or for your child, check out my Etsy Shop, where I have a few different options.  Hope you enjoy the tutorial!

Materials:
11 x 3 in. Piece of fabric (cotton fabric is easiest to work with)

1 Suspender Clip 

Coordinating Thread

4 in. of Coordinating Elastic or Ribbon about 1/4 in wide

Scissors or Rotary Cutter

Ruler or Meter Stick

Instructions:

Begin by cutting out your fabric to the size of 11 x 3 inches.

Fold your fabric hot dog style...there's the teacher in me :) inside out, and sew down the length of the fabric. 

 Once your fabric is sewn from end to end, you might want to trim up the edge.  Be careful not to cut the seam.

Next, you'll want to turn it right side out

 I used a long paint brush to help push it through.  This is where the crisp smoothness of cotton comes in handy.

Once your fabric is turned right side out, you'll want to fold each end in about a quarter of an inch.  This ensures that your pacifier clip looks professional and has clean edges.  

Next, you'll sew two parallel lines down the length of the fabric on each side of the fabric.  Make sure that your first seam is running down the back middle of your fabric before sewing. Sometimes I like to iron the fold down before sewing.  This helps me keep my lines straight. 

Once your finished sewing the seams on each side, cut your ribbon or elastic to about 4 inches.

Then place both ends of the ribbon into the center of one of the sides of fabric.  You need to make sure to push it down far enough so that you sew through the ribbon. 

  Next, you'll sew another seam through the ribbon.

The last step, you will slip the fabric through the suspender clip, fold it over and sew another seam.  Make sure to secure the edges on this seam by going over them.  I am not sure why I forgot to take this picture, but let me know if you need more info on doing this part.
